Janet McClure Beyer (nee Gordon) passed away at the young age of 73 in the loving arms of her dedicated and caring husband Lex in their home in Devon, Alberta on March 30, 2023. After a 7-month battle with cancer - a diagnosis that she faced with grace and optimism and true to Jan’s feisty Glaswegian spirit, she fought like a warrior until her last breath.

She is survived by her loving husband Karl Alexander (Lex) Beyer, adored Daughters Lynn Paterson and Lesley (Brent) Trimming. Grandchildren Connor, Caleigh and Chloe and cherished Great Grandson Tanner. Stepdaughter Trish (Jason) Grandchildren Andre, Lily, Liam, Willow and Stepdaughter Candice (Ben) Grandchildren Morgan, Tony, Austin. Her older brother Archie (Irene) Gordon and her younger sister Deirdre (Jimmy) Dunbar. Along with many treasured cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Jan was welcomed into Heaven by her parents William (Bill) and Letitia (Letty) Gordon and her older sister Anne Stewart.

Jan brightened the lives of others by sharing her love of entertaining. Her amazing dinner parties, garden parties, barbeques and bottomless martini parties - Jan was always the “Hostess with the Mostess”! Jan would always jokingly say “every guest is a blessing- some when they enter and some when they leave!” One thing for sure - you never left feeling unloved or hungry.

Jan had a successful and rewarding 36-year career with DynaLIFE, she touched the lives of numerous colleagues and patients. She cherished her work family and made lifelong friendships. Her leadership, drive and tenacity was inspiring to everyone she encountered.

The family would like to thank Dr. Vernon Chichak for his skilled & compassionate care of Jan for over the past 30 years. The last 7 months of treatments and care from the amazing doctors, nurses and care givers at the Cross Cancer institute. The empathy, kindness, impeccable care and pain management that was extended to our Mum in her fight against cancer was exemplary - you truly are a team of angels.
You will be forever missed, the best of you will always live within us sweet Jan – Wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother and friend xoxo

  8. Thank you for the beautiful celebration of Jan’s life. Even though we worked together some years ago I still considered Jan a good friend. There was a lot to admire about her. I can’t recall her ever saying anything bad about someone and always lifted people up. She was a great co-worker and could get blood out of a stone. It was my pleasure to have known her and she is someone I aspire to be like. My sincere condolences to Leslie, Lynn Lex and everyone who loved her.
