Debora “Debbie” Diane Thomas
We are heartbroken to announce that Debbie passed away on December 12, 2023, peacefully with family by her side.
She was predeceased by her mother (Betty), grandparents, aunts, and uncles. Debbie will be dearly missed and remembered by her father, siblings, extended family, friends, coworkers, and fellow volunteers.
Deb’s family and friends were so significant to her. She grew up spending summers with cousins at Mara Lake and as an adult, most of her holidays were spent in BC with her parents. Debbie was a fun Aunt and enjoyed watching her nieces and nephew grow up. Her love of country music, dancing, and concert-going brought her joy. In recent years she took a trip to Nashville that left her with cherished memories. She was also excited by her trips to New York, Arizona, and to a tulip festival with her mother.
Debbie enjoyed her career with the Government of Alberta and retired in 2022, after more than 40 years of service. When she was not spending time with family and her many friends, Debbie found fulfillment by generously volunteering with the various organizations she found near and dear to her heart. Once she retired, she moved to BC to enjoy time with and care for her father, then returned to Edmonton in May of 2023.
While a piece of our hearts went on with her, it is a comfort to believe that she is reunited with her mother. We love you and miss you, Deb!
A memorial service will be planned for later in the spring.
