Kelly Anne Tyler was born August 7, 1953, to parents Keith Tyler and Rosemary Emblau.

At the young age of 18 years, she married her first husband John McIlwraith and together they had three children.

Kelly spent her life working in various administrative roles and the last fifteen years were at the City Of Edmonton, until retirement, in July, 2023.

Kelly's presence was a force to be reckoned with and unlike anything one could know, unless you knew and understood her. Her tenacity, direct approach along with her strong, yet stubborn personality, and sharp wit, encompassed every thing of who she was.

Kelly's thirst for knowledge and research led to family history learned that she shared with others. Additionally, her passion to study biblical history and her love of all things calculus and chemistry, spoke to her aptitude for continued learning and questioning everything.

Kelly is survived by all her children (Tammy, Shannon John, and Shauna), three grandchildren, Cody, Kristen Jones (Connor), and Nathan, her sister Robin Saunters (Bruce), half siblings (Brook, Shane, Leslie, Chet, Maureen and Kismet, as well as numerous nephews and nieces, cousins, aunts and uncles.

Kelly is pre-deceased by both her parents, her sister Tracey Tanfara and her long-term partner, Doug McPherson.

A gathering for a celebration and remembrance of her life will be announced for a time in June, 2025.

  1. My deepest sympathy goes out to Kelly’s family and all of her loved ones. I have treasured memories of hanging out with Kelly and Don back in the 70’s and 80’s. Alas, those memories become hazy with time but can never be erased. Rest in peace,
    Kelly. ❤️

  2. You will be forever missed my favourite aunty, see you one day again ❤️

  3. My deepest condolences to the family. Kelly and Don was a time for fun and laughter. Both helped in addition to some of the humour with me today. I was honored to be asked as Best Man at their wedding. Though many years ago , the memory still remains.
I’m not sure what the Universe has prepared after life, however, a soul never dies. R.I.P Kelly

  4. Deepest condolences to Kelly’s immediate family and to all others who have remained close to her over the many years since I left Edmonton. I have some great memories of old times with Kelly at the discos and parties. She was a feisty one. I suppose that’s the first thing we had in common. I always enjoyed talking to her because it was never small talk and I would come away with something to think about. Rest In Peace sister. You’ll always be part of us.
