Graham Daniel Pilkington
It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Graham Daniel Pilkington, of Edmonton, AB on March 9, 2024, at the age of 47 years. Graham passed peacefully with his wife at his side after fighting the good fight with multiple medical conditions.
He will be lovingly remembered by his soulmate of 16 years, Brittney; Siblings Jennifer (Shawn) St. Amand, Grant (Jami) Pilkington, Reanna Pilkington, Brittany (Justin) Dieter, Jamie (Mary) Weikum, Tara (Ray) Pelletier, and Grant Johnson. His parents Lee (Lonnie) Pilkington and Valerie (Ed) Johnson. As well as numerous nieces, nephews, Aunts and Uncles.
He will be dearly missed by all those who knew him through the Canadian Cadet Organization and 700 Wing Association.
Graham lived a life full of zest and was passionate about many things. His love of music challenged most people and name that tune didn’t stand a chance with him around. In recent years, farming videos were his passion. His recent goal was driving a combine during harvest season. As an avid Oilers and Eskimo (Elks) fan he rarely missed watching the games.
Graham started with the air cadet program when he was 12 years old. This began his biggest hobby to date and forged many friendships over the years. He learned so much from those in the program and had many adventures or shenanigans as he would call them with his closest friends. As a result of being in the program he would go on to join the Cadet Instructor Cadre and spent over 20 years helping shape the many youth and adult staff that went through the program under his leadership.
He will be dearly missed by all those who have had an opportunity to work alongside him.
Graham met the love of his life later in life and they were lucky to have 16 years together. During this time, they celebrated so many life accomplishments, traveled as much as possible, and spent so much time together and never fought. Favourite trips were Disneyland, Disney cruise to Alaska, Rome, and various road trips – relaxing afternoon drives were a favourite – music blaring and talking for hours. He often said listening to Brittney was his favourite time of the day as she told him about her day. He loved her fiercely and spending time together no matter what they were doing.
A Celebration of Life will be held on March 25, 2024, at the Kingsway Legion (14339 50 St NW Edmonton) at 2pm.
In lieu of flowers Memorial Donations may be made in Graham Pilkington’s name to the Kidney Foundation of Canada or the Lung Association.
The family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff at the Edmonton General Continuing Care Centre, West Edmonton Kidney Care Centre, and the numerous Doctors who handled his medical care for their care and compassion.
Hi! My condolences goes out to all family members! Graham is now at peace he has suffered many health problems over the years! Graham is no longer suffering in pain! At least he had Brittany beside him when he passed away! My thoughts are with all of you!
Graham was a bright light in so many lives. He had a profound impact on me during my time with 504 in the 90s, and always made time to meet and catch up after I moved away. Graham was a good friend, mentor and officer to so many, and we are all better for having known him.
Graham left a huge mark in my heart. My memories of the time spent with him, and later him and Brittney will be with me always. Our friendship has always been very special to me. The few short years I lived in Edmonton just brought it even closer. Even though I was a short plane ride, I made sure to come and see you, even more in these last few years. Going to see a Blue Rodeo concert will not be the same without you! Brittney and I will continue this tradition, as I know it will bring back the amazing memories we had together. Your pain and suffering are gone, but you are here in spirit always. Love to you Brittney for being his rock and the love of his life!
Britt…..My heart is so broken for you. What a gift you had those amazing years with Graham. You two shared a life, love and respect for each other that most will never know (it was palpable ). Not to mention the fun, shinnanigans and Tom Foolery! The way he loved and protected your heart was not only amazing, but admirable. It spoke volumes about his character. Graham brought so much light, calm and laughter to so so many people and left the world better than he found it. It goes without saying that he left too soon, will be remembered well and sorely missed. Much love and a monster hug XOXO
Our deepest condolences Brittany. Our heart goes out to you.
My deepest sympathies
Brittany, condolences, thoughts and prayers, for you and family🙏🙏🙏
So sorry for your loss. Thoughts are with you as you honour your loved one and work through your healing.
