Richard K Hicks
(January 7th, 1959 - July 11th, 2024)
Rick was born in Vermilion Alberta, Canada. He attended W.P Wagner High School in Edmonton where he specialized in cooking. Rick fondly remembered working at a Pizza Joint in Leduc. Rick had the opportunity to move to Dartmouth, Nova Scotia to work at one of the Sony store locations there. He came back to Edmonton to study to be an EMT. Rick was an EMT in Leduc for many years, using his skills to help those in need. He developed many lifelong friendships during his time with EMS. He was in this field for about 15 years before he sustained a shoulder injury, which made him change professions. This led him to study computer sciences at Grant McEwan, where he continued to work until the end of his life.
Rick cared deeply about friends and family. He was “Uncle Rick ”to many and shared his love of travel, adventure and curiosity. He was always eager to share his knowledge to build, create and fix anything and everything. Rick’s extended family would like to add that they were fortunate to have him in their lives - he opened their world up so much and was there for them when they needed him. Even though he didn’t have children of his own, he was a father figure to many and was very missed by them.
He leaves behind his mother, Shelia and his four siblings along with spouses and children.
My heart is still breaking -I am so sorry for your loss
Deepest condolences Rick was a true leader and respected by everyone
Our deepest sympathy to Ricks family and extended family ❤️❤️
I worked with Rick at Convergint. This is where I met this incredible wonderful man. Rick had such a caring heart! The stories that he told about his adventures in life were incredible. It breaks my heart his passing. He’s touched so many peoples lives and will be so hard to replace. I wish every day he would walk through the doors of the office again. I I do truly miss this incredible, wonderful, kind, and caring man. Rest in peace, Rick. You have touched my heart greatly. And I thank you for being part of it.
Rick made friends by just being himself. A true real person. Still remember your Reg number 191. Miss ya buddy.

I am so sorry to hear of Rick’s passing. I knew Rick through Convergint. He came and did some work at my place of employment. Oh we had some great chats and laughs! He was always a joy to visit with. I looked forward to his visits.
He will be missed.
Please know you are all in my thoughts and prayers.
I am beyond words as I still try and process Rick’s passing. He and I worked closely on camera projects for Servus Credit Union. Rick taught me more than I could ever imagine about cameras and technology. Rick always answered the call for help! Rest in Peace Rick! 😢
So sad to hear about Rick’s passing! He was such a kind caring person to everyone who knew him. He was selfless and always there to help. Rick was a friend from Grant MacEwan at the start but always a friend beyond!
