Rita Jeann Demers
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Rita Jeann Demers, who passed away peacefully in Edmonton, at the age of 96. Born on February 10, 1929, in Legal, Alberta, she and Bert raised their family in Drayton Valley before later retiring in Edmonton. Rita built a life filled with love, laughter, and devotion to her family.
Rita was predeceased by her beloved husband, Hubert; her daughter, Claudette (Mike); and her precious granddaughter, Katelin.
She leaves behind her loving children: Doris (late Gordon), Bill (Bonnie), and Victor (Shannon).
Rita was a proud and devoted grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be deeply missed by her grandchildren: Amanda, Allison (Joey), Kelsey (Kyle), Tyler (Tiana), Tricia, Angie (Andy), and Matthew (Shauna). She also leaves behind her cherished great-grandchildren: Colden, Sky, Eternity, Seth, Grace, Sadie, Ruby, Emma, Abbey, and Gia.
Rita was the heart of her family—a woman of kindness, warmth, and generosity. She found joy in knitting, sharing laughter, and spending quality time with those she loved. She was always willing to do anything for her family, and her legacy of love and selflessness will continue to live on through the generations.
Rita’s life will be celebrated privately with her close family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Stollery Children’s Foundation in her memory.
She will be deeply missed but forever remembered in our hearts.
Dear Bonnie & Bill & families so very sorry to hear about Rita’s passing our deepest sympathy to you all
