
Joan Ann Monteith
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joan Ann Monteith on April 19, 2025 at the age of 86 in Edmonton, Alberta.
Born on February 4, 1939 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Joan was the beloved daughter of Mary and James Mair. She grew up surrounded by love and laughter and carried that spirit throughout her life.
On December 27, 1957 she married David Theodore Monteith in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Together they built a life filled with love, joy and adventure. Joan was a proud and loving mother to her two daughters, Heather and Robin and son Michael.
Joan’s greatest joys were her passions for music, singing, gardening, bingo and especially spending time with her children and grand children. Joan leaves behind a legacy of warmth, kindness, and love that will live on in everyone who knew her.
Joan is survived by her children Heather and Michael (Kimberley) and her cherished grandchildren, Michelle Mybelle, David Crane, Carey Monteith, Stewart Crane, Cassandra Monteith, Chantel Monteith, Brian Crane and Hunter Monteith, as well as her great grandchildren. Joan is also lovingly survived by her brothers, James Mair and Thomas (Marian) Mair and her sister Laura Schnellert, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and in-laws.
She was predeceased by her husband David Monteith, her daughter Robin Crane, her mother and father Mary and James Mair and brother Kenneth Mair.
A celebration of life to honour Joan’s life will be held at Parkland Village Community Centre at 60 Parkland Gate Road, Spruce Grove, Alberta, on Sunday May 4, 2025 at 1:30 PM – 4:00 PM.
She will be missed beyond measure but forever remembered in our hearts.
She is with the angels and in god hands. RIP.

We are saddened to hear of the loss of my sister and Karen’s Aunt Joan. She will forever remain in our hearts and memories.
