Douglas Russell Porter, unexpectedly passed away on Friday, July 22, 2022 at the age of 68 in the comfort of his home of St. Albert, Alberta.
Douglas was an avid traveller, a dedicated worker, and showed genuine kindness toward everyone he met. He will be greatly missed by family, and friends world wide.
Douglas is survived by his daughter Christina Edgson and her husband Patrick Edgson, granddaughters Casey and Brooke, his sister Joyce Smith (Alan), his brother David Porter, brother-in-law Vic Tessier (Liz), and step-daughter Kelly Kusch (Jamie).
Douglas was predeceased by his parents, Russ and Iris Porter and by his sister Betty Jean (Porter) Tessier.
At the request of Douglas, no service will be held.
What a good man we lost!…
I’ll always remember his smile, his positive attitude and his genuine concern about everyone’s well-being…

it is VERY accurate to say he was the best worker who was kind and friendly . I worked with Doug and His brother Dave . I pray that Dave and all who knew Doug will join me and agree that Doug will be sorely missed . I cannot stress enough how much of a genuine humanitarian Doug was and his kindness was equal to his Brother Dave who was also a tremendous worker whom I know will carry on despite this huge loss . I will try to adopt more of the kindness these brothers shared with me and many others and continue their lead . RIP Doug , Too soon You will live on in our hearts never to be forgotten.
Doug was a great guy loved by so many in Vancouver and Edmonton. He will be greatly missed. A true class act and role model.

My wife and I had the pleasure of visiting with Doug just last month while in St. Albert. His sudden passing makes it even more shocking and sad. He was gracious, polite, and as positive as always. He was full of life and had so much more of it to live.

Doug was as good of person as one could ever hope to work with. He was always a positive, intelligent and interesting person to be around. His work ethic was as good as it gets. He leaves us with many fond memories. He is gone far too soon. My condolences to all of his family.
