Robert (Bob) Yachimec was a man with presence. He filled every space he was in with his warm personality and robust physique. Everything about him was larger than life - his smile, his generosity and the way he loved.

On Tuesday, April 12, 2022, at the age of 71, Bob passed away peacefully surrounded by “his girls”. Bob will be remembered by his loving wife of 50 years, Sylvia, daughters Katy (Patrick) and Abby (Peter), as well as his beautiful grandchildren, Luca, Violet, Oliver and Annabel. Bob is survived by his mother, Mary Yachimec, siblings Sandy King (Rob), Fred Yachimec (Lori) and many other family and friends.

Bob was born September 14, 1949 to Mary and Dave Yachimec. The eldest of four, Bob was full of energy and keen to make friends wherever he went. He spent over 40 years in Fort McMurray raising his family and working in the oil sands industry for Syncrude Canada. Bob will be remembered for his remarkable ability to make guests feel like part of the family and loving his sweet wife, his girls, their partners and grandchildren with his whole heart.

We will be hosting a celebration of life open house on May 14 between 2-6 pm. This will be a time for sharing stories and fond memories of Bob throughout his life. All are welcome. Please email kyachimec@gmail.com for more information.

Donations to the Lewy Body Dementia Association (lbda.org) in Bob’s honour would be greatly appreciated.
