Donny Joseph Langdon, aged 48, passed away on October 12th in Fort McMurray.
Donny was born and raised in Stephenville, Newfoundland, where he spent his early years before moving to Alberta as a young adult. There, he built a life and career around what came naturally to him — working with his hands. He was an exceptionally talented mechanic, known for his skill with cars, motorcycles, and anything that had an engine.

He loved sharing that passion with his daughters, whether it was spending time in the garage, dirt biking, boating, or heading out on the four-wheeler together. Those were the moments when his love shone most clearly — when he could teach, fix, or tinker, passing down the excitement and freedom he found in those simple joys.

He lived a life marked by both hardship and love. His journey was not without its difficulties, but those who knew him closely also knew his capacity for affection, loyalty, and pride in the people he cared about most.

To his daughters, he was a father who, in his own way, loved them deeply. He always expressed how proud he was of them and how much they meant to him. Though life brought challenges and their relationships were not without complexity, they will each remember the moments of pride, laughter, and love that he gave in the ways he could.

Donny is survived by his daughters, Dawn Dearing, and Abagayle Pennell, and his partner Victoria Allen. Donny is also survived by his mother Laverne Langdon, his brothers Danny, Terry, and sister Judy. He is predeceased by his siblings Tony, and Eli.
He will be laid to rest in a private service, and his family asks for peace and understanding as they remember him in their own ways.
May he rest in peace.

I met Donny two years ago. Our conversations always circled back as he talked about his family, how proud he was of his daughters. It was clear despite rough roads how much they truly meant to him.

I am shocked to hear of his recent passing.

I’d like to pass along my condolence’s and prayers to his immediate family, friends and all who knew Donny.

He had the best laugh and his smile I’d one that will not be forgotten.

  • Doreen McCann Gillis says:

I am so deeply saddened to hear of Donny’s passing. Sincere condolences to his children, his partner, his birth family, his extended family and to all who knew and loved him. So sorry for your loss. Donny and I worked together at M & A Glass, Stephenville, Newfoundland. Donny, though idle, was one of most gifted young men that I ever met. His knowledge for small engine (dirt bikes, ski doo’s and quad’s ) was like a gifted passion. His talents extended to big vehicle engines as well. I hope that he left this world knowing how truly intelligent he was. May god bring to you all some peace as you grieve and mourn his passing. Rest In Peace Donny

    • Dawn Dearing says:

Thank you for this beautiful message Doreen. I hope he left this world knowing how intelligent and talented he was too. My mom used to say he could take apart a motorcycle and put it back together blindfolded and make it work better than before. He taught me so many things, like riding a dirt bike, and hunting. He had so much patience for me, he would constantly tell me how much he loved his little girl and how proud he was of me. I hope he knows how much I love him
