Dale Glenn Kovalenko passed away unexpectedly in his home on Jan 6, 2026 age of 69. Born in Edmonton on Aug. 28, 1956, his family moved to Goose Bay, Labrador in 1959 and returned to Edmonton in 1964 where he resided until his passing.
Dale was a valued employee of Lafarge Canada (Amrize) for 37 years and was looking forward to his long-awaited retirement which was to start in February of this year. Over the years Dale had developed personal friendships with fellow employees and stayed in touch with many of them after they had moved on from the company.
To know Dale was to know his quick wit and his signature sense of humor, which could light up any room. He was a man of abundant knowledge and was always eager to pass on advice to anyone willing to listen.
Dale was very kind and would not hesitate to help others at the drop of a hat, never expecting anything in return. He loved fishing and the stories of those trips to Yellowknife NWT, will be cherished and retold by those who loved him.
Dale will be remembered and forever missed by his family and numerous relatives and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Julia Kovalenko.
Dale is survived by his daughter, Julia (Cameron McCorkindale), brother Barry (Leigh Allen), sister Cheryl Eggenberger (Edward), nephew Christian Eggenberger (Rebecca Love) and niece Lauren Eggenberger.
Dale loved all animals and is deeply missed by his feline companions, Opie and Seagull.
A Celebration of Dales life will be held in June 2026.

Very sorry for your loss! We’re missing Kovy here at work, it isn’t the same without him. He was very much a part of our family and we enjoyed him and his humor.
