It is with heavy hearts that the family of Duanne Olaf Furuness announces his passing on Saturday, July 18th 2026, at the age of 68 years. He was surrounded by the comfort and love of his family.
Duanne leaves behind his wife of 43 years Grace, son Scott and daughter-in-law Bethany, daughter Erika and son-in-law Bobby, and cherished grandsons Teddy and Franklin. Duanne will also be deeply missed by his brother Gary (Les), twin brother Dean (Wendy) and many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and close friends.
Duanne was predeceased by his parents, Melvin and Lucielle and siblings Melva, Myron, Verda and Ron.
We will forever remember Duanne’s quiet but thoughtful demeanor, his quirky sense of humour and his love for his family and friends. His great taste in music and encyclopedic knowledge of trivia will live on through his family. He will be forever missed. We love you Papa.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff and doctors at the University of Alberta Hospital neurosciences ICU and general systems ICU for the excellent and compassionate care provided to Duanne in his final weeks. Duanne’s Celebration of Life will take place in September 2026. Details will be shared once arrangements have been finalized.
