Elke Dora Marie Hovind (Ludwig) 85, passed away peacefully in hospital on March 29th, 2025 after a lengthy illness. She was born in Kossau, Germany on July 11, 1939. She immigrated to Edmonton in the 1960’s where she continued her nursing career mostly at the University of Alberta Hospital. Elke enjoyed gardening, cooking and entertaining her many friends. She was predeceased by her husband Harold Hovind and is survived by her nephew Billy and his family in Switzerland.
I will always remember Sweet Elke from my days working at the U of A Hospital in Edmonton. One day after work I was headed to an Emergency Dental appointment when she saw me. I remember with great fondness how she came with me and held my hand through a painful examination. I will never forget her. I tried to reach her several times and sadly just found her obituary early this morning. May you rest in perfect Peace my friend.
