Isabel Margaret Baron of Spruce Grove, Alberta, passed away peacefully on May 16, 2026 at the age of 93. Left to mourn her loss are her sons, Greg (Joan) Melanson, Marcel (Nadine) Melanson and her daughter Valerie Melanson. She was a loving grandmother to her four cherished grandchildren, Adrien Melanson, Erin (Adam) Richardson, Megan (Adam) MacNeil, and Drake (Larissa) Melanson and a delighted great-grandmother (GG) to her five great grandchildren Cole, Kate and Quinn Richardson and Ellie and Alice Melanson. She also has many close nieces and nephews in Alberta and Saskatchewan.

Isabel was predeceased by her oldest son Thomas Peter Melanson in 1973 and the father of her children Bill Melanson in 1981 as well as her husband Albert Baron in 2008. She was also predeceased by her parents Pete and Ina Fowlie as well as her sister Martha and her three brothers Bruce, Cecil and Allen.

Isabel was well known in Spruce Grove as she worked at the local IGA store from 1971-1991, and volunteered with many organizations, such as the local Thrift Store. She was also a loyal and dedicated 30 year member of the Royal Purple Lodge. The many lifelong friends she made through her volunteer efforts greatly enriched her life.

Isabel lived with warmth, resilience, and a generous spirit. She stayed active, laughed easily, and gave freely—especially to the people she loved most.
