It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Jerry Musial, at the age of 97, on September 11, 2026, at Grey Nuns Hospital, with both of his children lovingly by his side.
Jerry was born on December 8, 1928, in Opava, Czechoslovakia. The eldest of nine children, Jerry grew up with a strong work ethic and a determination that would remain with him throughout his life. In 1953, he left Czechoslovakia and made Canada his new home, beginning a remarkable new chapter in his life.
Jerry built his career as a carpenter and became an accomplished furniture maker. He had a natural talent for working with his hands and an extraordinary ability to fix just about anything. Whether building a beautiful piece of furniture, repairing something that was broken, or helping someone in need, Jerry took pride in doing things properly. His craftsmanship, ingenuity, and willingness to lend a hand were qualities that those who knew him will remember fondly.
Above all, Jerry treasured his family. He is survived by his children, Carl (Misty) Musial and Maria (Gary Sakofsky); his grandchildren, Cory, Bradley (Victoria), Zackary, Ava, Olivia, Dakota (Alasia), Kyleigh, and Cameron; and his great-grandchildren, Eden, River, and Jack.
Jerry’s life was one of courage, hard work, creativity, and devotion to his family. From leaving his birthplace in Czechoslovakia to building a life and a family in Canada, he created a lasting legacy through both the things he made with his hands and the memories he made with the people he loved.
He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
