Raymond Douglas Hyde
Raymond passed away peacefully on the evening of December 30, 2025, at the age of 75. Born on August 22, 1950, Raymond was the son of Douglas Hyde and Ina Hyde (née Axtell). Ray was a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who took immense pride in his family. Raymond was the loving father of Ray Hyde, Brad Hyde, and Jonathon Love.
Throughout his life, Raymond was known for his strong work ethic, taking pride in the various career roles he held. He dedicated himself completely to each job and, over the years, co-workers always became close friends. He was a wonderful storyteller who delighted in sharing jokes and entertaining tall tales with his grandchildren. He cherished the mountains of Alberta and British Columbia, and loved to talk of their beauty and his experiences of hiking. The outdoors played a significant role in his life, as he always made it a point to stop and appreciate the little things along the way.
Raymond will be remembered for his love of family and the quiet pride he felt watching his children and grandchildren grow. His legacy lives on through the generations he leaves behind. His son Ray is married to Carrie, and together they have three children: Clark (married to Tess, with daughter Shyloh), Alexander, and Braeden. His son Brad is married to Denise, and together they have five children: Brandon (daughter Soline), Cassandra (engaged to Ryan), Brodey, Daniel, and Abbey. His son Jonathon is married to Lauren, and together they have one son, Leo.
A private service will be held in accordance with Raymond’s wishes. Those wishing to honour his memory are encouraged to do so by reflecting on the importance he placed on family and living life to the fullest. For those wishing to make a donation in his honour, please forward it to the Canadian Cancer Society.
I’ve known Ray for almost 20 years through Okotoks Ford and then after he retired we’d kept in touch even through his move to Edmonton.
Fantastic family man and friend and all around wonderful person.
