It is with great sadness that we share the unexpected passing of Dwayne Edward Otto on October 30, 2025 at the age of 50 years. Dwayne was a pop culture nerd with a wry sense of humour. He was fiercely loyal to his friends and family. Dwayne was born in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories on March 14, 1975. His youth was spent in Yellowknife and Sherwood Park, and he eventually settled in Edmonton after living in different communities across Canada. He is survived by his parents, Linda and Sheldon, his brother and sister-in-law, Darren and Addie, his nephews, Sebastian and Jeremiah, his beloved cat, Matilda (who has found a new loving home), and special friend, Chantal, to whom we are so grateful. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who will miss him deeply. In lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity of your choice in his name. Private memories and photos may be sent to Dwayne.Otto.Memories@gmail.com

Miss you Dwayne. Thank you for sharing your love of music with me/introducing me to tunes I would’ve looked over but are now some of my favorite songs, and sharing your aptitude for random history facts. I will always remember how kind you were, your sense of humor, and your sense of being there for people. Sending love and thoughts to friends and family ❤️

  • Robert Collinson says:

So many memories of a great person. From a three year old who used to launch himself at you from 10 feet away at family gatherings. To the Lego death traps Darren and Dwayne used to set for me when I stayed with them when Linda and Sheldon were out of town. I remember giving him advice on how to deal with a bully as a 10 year old. Him following it and getting detention for a week. Linda and Sheldon requested I not provide anymore parental advice – but the bullying stopped. LOL So smart, so creative I will miss our occasional chats. Violet and I send our love.

  • Michelle Steinhusen says:

Dwayne and I met in high school. The Otto household became my second home. He was my best friend, my easiest friend, my funniest friend. Life would take us in different directions, but we always found each other again, settling immediately into our friendship. We hadn’t spoken in over 10 years after a falling out, but he was always in my heart. I never considered that I would lose that chance to reconnect/reconcile. I’m so sorry for that. I’ll keep missing you, Dwayne.
