George Stewart “Stu” MacKenzie
Born November 7 1949, passed peacefully, Sunday February 1, 2026, at University of Alberta Hospital with family lovingly attending his final hours.
Stewart was born November 7, 1949 in Edmonton Alberta, Canada to Thomasina Mackenzie who later married Louis Wolk.

Stewart attended Lindsay Thurber High School in Red Deer Alberta, and went on to getting his steam ticket at NAIT and worked as a boiler maker, he also worked as a house builder and for years as a general contractor, for the last several years, he was working as a handyman. Stewart had an incredible knowledge base for solving household and automotive problems that would often translate into helping people for cheap or for free.

Stewart is survived by his wife, Charlotte, his children, Kelly Donald, Donald’s wife Kim, Chris, Chris’ wife Tara, his grandchildren, Avery Lance and Callie, his brother Ian, Ian’s wife Tara, and his sister Janet. Stewart was preceded in death, by his parents, Louis and Thomasina.

Stewart was a man of faith who was widely known as the person to call when you were having house or car difficulty, as well as being a great friend and support when life was hard. He was known by at least 2 decades of kids at church, as the man with candy in his pockets. He always had a joke or a funny comment ready. He had advice and access to good deals for people who needed them. He was often selfless, and believed that people in need were to be helped and supported as often as he was able. He always answered his phone, because someone might need his help.
His favorite hobby, was fishing in a quiet spot, and he often claimed that one day of fishing adds a year to your life.

A Celebration of Stewart’s Life will be held on February 14, 2026, 1 PM at Calvary Community Church 8704 Millwoods Road NW.
