Glen Kelvin Michael Young Obituary
June 04, 1962 – November 03, 2025
With saddened hearts that we share the loss of Glen Young, age 63, on Monday, November 3, 2025, at the Roozen Family Hospice Centre, Edmonton, AB, after a brave battle with lung cancer.
Glen was born on June 4, 1962, in Melville, SK, to William (Bill) Anderson Young and Vera (nee Hedges). The family lived in Melville for 4 years before moving to Stranraer, SK, for 3 years. The family then relocated to Stoughton, SK, where they resided for 6 years, before moving for a short 9 month stint in Richmond, BC. Glen moved to Swift Current where he spent his Junior High years at Beatty and his Senior High school days at Swift Current Comp.
Glen had a passion for the mountains. He moved to Banff, AB, after leaving Swift Current. In his early days he worked at Sunshine Village Ski Resort where he loved to cook and learned how to ski. Glen saw his share of Banff National Park when he worked for Parks Canada. He loved hiking and of course he was an avid fisherman with various favourite fishing holes. He never lost his love of the Rockies. He had a great sense of humour and loved a good laugh.
He was married on January 21, 1992, to Terri (nee Buck) in Swift Current, SK. Glen and Terri relocated to Canmore where their son, Joshua, was born in 1993. Glen spent the following years between Canmore and Swift Current, settling in Swift Current and area in 2007.
Glen spent his final years in Edmonton with Catherine Staszkiewicz, the love of his life. They held a private Vow Ceremony on April 27, 2025.
Glen was predeceased by his father William, his mother Vera, his stepfather Gerald “Ted” Johnson, his brothers Keith and Grant and his stepsister Shelby.
Glen is survived by his son Joshua Young (Swift Current, SK), brothers Garth (Sue Turner) Young (Edmonton, AB), Darren Young (Gatineau, QC), David (Deanna) Young (Victoria, BC), his sister Lynn (Pat) Wist (Medicine Hat, AB), his sister-in-law Joyce Young (Regina, SK), stepbrother Tim (Shannon) Johnson (Swift Current, SK), and his stepsister Tammy Sutton (Edmonton, AB).
His wishes were to not have a funeral ceremony. Glen’s ashes will be scattered in Canmore and at the Saskatchewan Landing, where his family will hold a private gathering to say their farewells.
Special thanks to Dr. Lauren Girard and the Pilgrim’s palliative team for their enduring care.
May he rest in peace in the arms of angels.
