It is with love and sadness that I announce the passing of Margaret (Marg) Palichuk who passed away peacefully on November 6th, 2025 after an 8 year battle with dementia.
Marg was born in Mundare Alberta, and spent most of her years in Edmonton where she and husband Orest built a home filled with family, tradition, and the comforting smells of her excellent cooking.
Marg was a private person, but those who knew her best saw her quiet strength, sharp wit, and deep devotion to her family. She took great pride in caring for others and found her greatest joy in her grandchildren, who were the lights of her life. Marg worked in the Mailroom at Grant MacEwan College for many years and had formed lifelong friendships with coworkers that continued into her retirement.
She was predeceased by her husband Orest in 2011, her son Scott in 2021, and her brother Ed in 2024.
Marg will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Stacey, Grandchildren Briana, Alec, and Morgan, as well as her Great Grandchildren Ivy, and Lennox (Marg was thankfully able to meet and hold brand new baby Lennox before she passed away) Marg is also survived by her brother Marvin Talaga (Janet), Raymond Talaga (Irene), Brother in laws Ernest Palichuk and Marshall Palichuk, sister in law Betty Menzak, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and many other family members and friends.
A special thank you and deep gratitude to Allen Grey Continuing Care Centre where Marg resided for the last 8 1/2 years on the 3rd floor “Fir Street” Her Nurses took fantastic care of her and became part of her family.
As per her wishes, no funeral or formal service will be held. A small gathering will take place at the gravesite in Ranfurly Cemetery in the spring to celebrate her life.
Forever loved, forever remembered
Marg and I made many memories together. We were neighbours first and friends always. She was a very special lady , as you all know. It’s a terrible disease, one that robs her and us. You made sure that she would remember her family as long as possible Stacey and in her heart I know she treasured you all. May she rest in well earned and peaceful rest we will definitely miss her.
Our deepest sympathies on her passing! Dementia is a sad thing! I know how special you were to her Stacey and Scott and your girls and grandchildren! She was a special Aunty along Big hugs to you all! Love Char and Guy
