Marianne Kessler
It is with much sadness we announce that our dear Mom, Marianne Kessler has passed away on Sept 28th, 2025. As a young mother with two young children in tow, she came to Canada with her husband Robert Kessler (deceased). In 1959 Mom fell in love with the idea of living in Sherwood Park and never to disappoint her loving husband made it happen. Marianne had a lengthy career as Department Manager with Hudson Bay Company and cherished her weekends to take care of her flower beds in her new home. Mom had a flair for sewing and went into full production mode during Klondike Days producing many gorgeous and memorable dresses only fitting for the celebration.
With the passing of her husband after a 57 year marriage, and after living at Heritage Crystal Manor Condominium Complex where Marianne was actively engaged as a Board Director for over 8 years she then elected to move to Silver Birch Lodge where once again she became fully engaged in all sorts of activities. If it wasn’t celebrating the sharing of cultural hat days, or participating with “her Ladies” at their weekly gym activities, or just generally sharing a good laugh and sharing her infectious quick wit with anyone lucky enough to be with her at the moment, she always participated full heartedly. Mom in her calm way made a point of always loving the space she was in and enjoying it to the fullest.
Mom leaves behind her son Thomas (Linda) and her daughter Ursula (Tom) and her grandchildren Alberta, Stacey, Paul, and Berend; her great-grandchildren Taran, Jay, Kian and Michael. Mom has one surviving sibling Ursula (Ursel) Johanna Becker along with several Nieces and a Nephew and their families. In her later years she was lucky and so happy to be able to travel “home” a few times to Germany, because of the enormous support from her son. Mom has left behind quite an extended family in Germany, and she was so fortunate to make one last trip this past year. Mom, you are being missed by all of us now and we will continue to love you forever.
