Maria Salvador

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Maria Angela Salvador, at the age of 92, who died on February 14, 2026, in Edmonton, Alberta.
Maria was born on July 22, 1933, in Simbario, Catanzaro, Italy to Bertucci Rosa and Romano Giuseppe. She grew up in Italy with her sister and two brothers. In 1965, she moved to Canada, travelling by boat for 28 days before arriving in Halifax, and then continued by train to Edmonton, Alberta. In 1966, Maria married Ottorino Salvador, and together they raised a family of two daughters.
Maria was known for her kindness and gave her love to everyone. She was loved by all who met her and always welcomed everyone to her table with her wonderful homemade meals. She was always the first to help out family and friends. Maria loved gardening, cooking, knitting, and sewing, and she especially cherished her grandchildren. She took great joy in bringing her grandsons Billy and Mitchel to school when they were young.
She is survived by her children Giovanna (Ian) and Rose (Bill); her grandchildren Julia, Carly (David), Bill, Mitchel (Liana); and many extended family members and friends who will miss her dearly.
A private family service will be held on March 4 at 10:00am at Santa Maria Goretti Italian Parish in Edmonton.
The family extends a special thank you and their deepest gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and extended staff of Unit 54 at the Royal Alexandra Hospital for the compassionate care given to their beloved mother.
