Sharon Bly (née Bagley)

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Sharon Bly on August 12, 2026, at the age of 79.

Born in Drumheller, Alberta, on October 14, 1946, Sharon was raised on a farm near Rowley, Alberta, by her parents, Ernest Bagley and Margaret (Todor) Bagley.

Sharon is lovingly remembered by her husband, Douglas; her daughter, Michelle (Hugo); her son, Evan (Jennifer); and her cherished grandchildren, Sarah, Robyn, Grace, and Hope.

She is also lovingly remembered by her sister, Marion (Lionel), and her beloved nieces, Connie, Lisa (Jen), and Gina (Jim), with whom she shared an especially close bond.

Sharon was also grateful for the love and kindness of her in-laws, the Bly family, whose friendship, support, and care meant so much to her throughout her life and during her illness.

Sharon was predeceased by her beloved son, Andrew; her brother, Carl; and her parents, Ernest and Margaret Bagley.

Sharon had a remarkable ability to make friends wherever she went. She genuinely enjoyed people, and her warmth and generosity made others feel welcomed and cared for. She had an especially compassionate heart for people experiencing homelessness and often looked for ways to help someone who was struggling. Giving came naturally to Sharon, whether it was her time, her resources, or simply kindness when someone needed it.

Above all, Sharon loved the people in her life deeply. Her generosity, compassion, and ability to connect with people will be remembered by the many lives she touched.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff and volunteers at the Gene Zwozdesky Centre at Norwood for the tremendous compassion they showed Sharon and the comfort they provided during her final months.

Sharon will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

At Sharon’s request, there will be no funeral service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hope Mission or a local homeless shelter.
