Suzanne Mabel McMillan (Mama) of Ryley, Alberta passed away peacefully with her daughter by her side on October 10, 2026 at the age of 77 years. Suzie spent her childhood in the Cowan, Manitoba area, and later settled with her family near Edmonton in the beloved little village of Ryley. She then loved the community whole-heartedly while babysitting many children in the area and forming lifetime bonds with their families. Suzanne was a mother and friend to all who needed one.
She is survived lovingly by her children Stephanie, Richard (Nicole), Ronald Jr., Debbie (Buddy), Teresa, and Nathan; 9 grandchildren: Randy (Kelsey), Ashley (Chris), Samantha, Kimberly, Calvin, Steven, Kendra, Nicholas (Tayler) & Cody; 8 great-grandchildren: Brent, Ivy, Abigail, Lynden, Mackenzie, Maveryck, Raelyn & Jaxon. She is also survived by her siblings: Ernest & Alan (Jo-Anne), sister-in-law Diane, and countless nieces and nephews.
She is pre-deceased by her husband Ronald McMillan, her parents Ernest & Ivy Hamelin, brother Harold (Bob) Hamelin; sister-in-law Renata Hamelin, and grand-son Darren McMillan.
The family wishes to thank the incredible staff at the University of Alberta Hospital for the care Suzanne received in the past year.
Ron and Suzanne had an open-door policy which helped them gather their flock of “adopted” children; you all know who you are and were deeply loved by Suzanne.
As per Suzanne’s wishes, a private family gathering will be held at a later date.
Suzanne loved living the life of Ryley. Donations in Suzanne’s memory can be made directly to the Ryley Pool or the McPherson Municipal Library.
