Rosa Lynn Jongsma passed away peacefully, at the CapitalCare Gene Zwozdesky Centre at Norwood, with family and friends by her side, in her 67th year, on October 9, 2026, in Edmonton, Alberta. She had a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer and never lost her great sense of humour throughout. Born on October 18, 1959, in St. Thomas, ON, Rosa was a great lover of the north and lived in a variety of places over her Health Records Technician career, such as Tuktoyaktuk, Iqaluit, Inuvik and Yellowknife, to name a few. The mountains always had her heart….as she would say “The mountains are calling, and I must go”.
Predeceased by her parents, Adam and Minke Jongsma, and her brother, Edward Jongsma. She is survived by her sisters Hilda Broer (Harry) and Julia Versteeg (Robert), and sister-in-law Evelyn Jongsma. She is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
There will be no funeral. Donations in the memory of Rosa can be made to the Northern Lights Regional Humane Society, High Level, AB, or a charity of your choice.
