William Eugene Hlushko, a long-time resident of Boyne Lake, Alberta, has passed away in his home. William was a man who lived life entirely on his own terms. For many years, he made his living as a bulldozer operator and a farmer; roles that suited his rugged nature. He was a familiar presence in the Boyne Lake area where he spent his entire 68 years of life. Known for a lifestyle that was as wild as it was stubborn, William was never one for the shy path. He lived hard and played hard, often leaving a lasting impression on anyone who crossed his path. William was the patriarch of a large, blended family. He didn’t distinguish between those born to him and those he chose to love by raising his children, stepchildren and niece with the same devotion. He is survived by his legacy of kins; Jennifer Bell, Tonya Hlushko, Jesse Hlushko, Alex Hlushko, Khaysa Leppanen, Jade Giesbrecht, Jesse Leppanen, Jamie Leppanen and Amber Newbury. As well as his abundance of grand children and other loved ones including but not limited to Theo, Johnny, Chance(Scooter), Olive, Ozzy, McKenna, Makayla, Dianna, Jacob, Lena, Mia, Kirsten and Alexies.

I’m sad to hear that Bill passed away, and also sad that we haven’t spent much time with Dad’s side of the family for some time.
As children of Pete Hlushko, we used to spend at least 1 week every summer at Ted’s home in Boyne Lake and cousin Bill was always a big part of our visit. Bill would take us to help with his chores, or to the lake for fishing or to hunt gophers in the fields. Bill was wild and stubborn, but he always made our time together fun!
I’m not surprised to hear that he loved with a strong devotion, and celebrate that his life left a strong legacy of kins.
I send condolences to Bill’s Hlushko family.
