It is with heartfelt sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of Gregg Irwin Devore on October 8, 2026 at the age of 64. Born on February 17, 1962 in Edmonton Alberta to Shirley Maye Devore and Richard Frank Devore. Gregg grew up in Sherwood Park Alberta .
After working at Safeway for many years, he had a brief career as a private investigator. I could tell you some very interesting and funny stories from that period of time. After that, he went on to pursue a long career in the insurance business as a well respected large loss adjuster. His peers looked up to him, and he eventually became a mentor to many. Anyone who knew Gregg would say that he was stubborn in many ways, but always kind and generous and well respected. He had a passion for playing golf and playing pool and shooting guns, diving and riding his motorcycle. Preceded in death by his parents Shirley May Devore and Richard Frank Devore. He is survived by his wife, Diane Rose Quinteros, as well as his daughter Leah, McKenzie Devore and his stepchildren Tamara(Kyle), Andrew Quinteros, granddaughter, Miriam, Gloria Burke and his younger brother Brett(Jenny) Devore. He will also be missed by many close friends and extended family members. Gregg did not want a formal funeral or ceremony so there will be a celebration of life at our house sometime in November at a later date. Many thank you to the staff of Grey Nun’s Hospital as well as the staff at the Cross Cancer Institute.

I had the good fortune of meeting and working with Gregg years ago. He was a selfless mentor who generously shared his experience and time. He was also a true friend who stood by me during some difficult times. Gregg had the best laugh. He was the “glue guy” in our office, he brought people together and could always be counted on. I am grateful that I had the opportunity to tell him how much of a positive impact he had on my life. I will remember him fondly.

Gregg’s passing was certainly bittersweet, he will be missed but forever loved. I’ve known him for over 30 years. He was an awesome Dad to our daughter, Leah. He was kind of everyone’s Dad. You could count on him to show up, keep his word, and was always be ready to help out. He was also the life of the party! Leah and I will miss him so very much.

I had the pleasure to work off and on with Gregg in different roles over the last 15 years, but had the most fun swapping insurance, motorcycle and life stories over a beer. He will be missed.

Greg sure was a great guy. I met you and him about 20 years ago, so glad I did. Always had wonderful times with you guys while visiting the West. He was funny, smart, witty and played trivia well. A caring and loving man who would help anyone, especially when you have a heater problem on a cold day. He will be greatly missed by many. My deepest condolences to you, your family and friends. Sending you big hugs and lots of love.

  • Netter Devore says:

We were so saddened and shocked to hear this news. It’s hard to find the right words when someone so full of life is suddenly gone. To us, Gregg was a man of genuine, unfiltered honesty, with a deeply generous spirit and a great sense of humour. He had a way of making us feel welcome with good food and refreshments along with some entertaining stories to remember. The world is a little less bright without him in it. Gregg will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him. Biggest hugs from Netter and the Medicine Hat Devore’s
